Internet and Computer
Assumption University has outstanding computer facilities and Internet connections. There are over 1500 personal and Macintosh Computers for use by students. These are located in various computer laboratories of the University and in other suitable locations outside of classrooms. All personal computers are connected with each other using a FDDI backbone that connects all the buildings within each campus.

Inside each building, LANs based on Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet serve to connect the computers. The office of the AuNet Center (Network Operation Center of the University) maintains the overall performance of the network at the university. At the AuNet Center there is an 16 Mbps (Mega bits per second) link to the Internet which allows fast access to the Internet from any of the PCs at the university.
In addition to these 1500 PCs, there are more than 50 Sun and HP and IBM servers which host many applications for student and faculty use, as well as for the computerization of administrative functions, such as online registration, payroll and personnel.
Students are not limited to using the Network just from within the campus.
Students living off campus can dial up the access server and make use of the Network. There are about 920 lines that can be used for dial up connectivity that provide speeds reaching 56 kbps.
The Network, which spans across the campus, is secure and reliable. The University uses CISCO products as its Network devices. The fast Ethernet Links and fiber carry about 100 million bits per second allowing students to cross geographical links in seconds. Communication between our two Campuses is enhanced with a 2 Mbps serial connection. The redundant gateways to the WAN provide fault tolerance and reliability in case of a Network Failure.
