Quote “Dear Rev Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran,

The University of Wollongong Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Wellings CBE, today expressed the University’s deepest condolences on the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
“On behalf of the Chancellor, Council, staff, students and alumni of the University of Wollongong, I offer our sincere condolences to the Royal Family, Government and people of Thailand on the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
“His Majesty will be remembered as a long-serving, unifying national leader who was dedicated to the service of his nation.”
“He was revered by the people of Thailand and widely respected internationally as a leader who supported independence, human rights, education, peace and friendship between nations,” Professor Wellings said.
The University has enjoyed a close association with Thailand and its Royal Family over many years and in 2002 was honoured to confer on His Majesty the degree of a Doctor of the University of Wollongong in recognition of his distinguished leadership and humanitarianism.
This is the only time in the University’s 41 year history that this distinguished honorary degree has been conferred.
“The University of Wollongong community around the world shares in your sadness at the loss of King Bhumibol. May he rest in peace,” Professor Wellings said.

Yours Sincerely,
Siena
